History

1895
Tohoku Second Highschool Water Athletic Club was founded.
New boats, "Kitakami" and "Ohkuma", were launched at the Ishikawajima shipyard.
1902
The name was changed to boat club.
1903
During boat trip in the Abukumagawa River, two members had an accident in the Yuriage neighborhood.
1906
A member met accident at Ishinomaki.
1917
A boathouse was built in Shiogama.
1926
New boat "Seifu"was launched at Matsushima Bay.
1929 The supporters' assciation consisting of alumni was established.
1930
Won the championship in statewide highschool athletic meet at Setagawa River.
1931
Second consecutive championship at Setagawa.
A boathouse was constructed at Teizan moat.
1934
During boat trip in Ishinomaki, ten members had an accident in Matsushima Bay off the coast of Kujira Island
1936
Won statewide highschool athletic meet.
1939
Won the championship in statewide highschool athletic meet.
1940
Won the consective championship in statewide highschool athletic meet.
1941
Won the 3 consective championship in statewide highschool athletic meet.
1946
Won the 4 consective championship in statewide highschool athletic meet.
1949
Tohoku Second Highschool jointed in annexation with the Tohoku University 1st Department of Liberal Arts by educational system reform.
The name was changed to Tohoku University Rowing Club (TURC).
1950
All Japan championships M4+ : 1st place
1st marine games at Matsushima bay held.
1953Tohoku University Rowing Clubs' Supporters was established.
1960
A member became Japanese representative at the Roman Olympics.
1961
Toda boat-house was constructed by supporters, and it was donated to Tohoku University.
1965Tohoku University Rowing Club Sponser was renamed Tohoku University Tonankai.
1975
M8+ won the championship in an intercollege regatta.
1976
At Worldwide championship, Japanese representatives placed eighth.
1977
All Japan Freshmen Championships M8+: 2nd place
At Worldwide lightweight class championship Japanese representatives placed fourth.
1978
1st Seattle camp.
